Club connection: Ham radio operators tuned in for next weekend's Hamfest » Knoxville News Sentinel

Radio Amateur Club of Knoxville (RACK) ham radio aficionados are excited about next weekend’s Hamfest & Electronics Exposition. RACK’s 47th annual Hamfest will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8 at Kerbela Temple. Admission is $7 though it’s free for public officials and folks in uniform (military, scouts, etc.), as well as kids under 12. Anyone who enjoys ham radios, electronics, antique radios and the like will likely enjoy the event.

According to Hamfest Director and RACK member Lou Dreinhoefer, Hamfest will include forums, exhibits and demonstrations; breakfast and lunch concessions; equipment sales tailgating outside; and onsite VE radio exams. The event, recognized by American Radio Relay League (ARRL) as the state convention for Tennessee, is both a public service for “hams” but also RACK’s only major fundraiser...
